In
the entire history of jazz, only a handful of musicians have
succeeded in achieving improvisational control of this demanding
vehicle(valve trombone). Fahn seems to have all the requisites:
a bronzed, burnished sound, technique and ideas to spare,
with each note in the right place at the right instant, and
a crisp attack that is peculiar to this instrument.LEONARD
FEATHER
"[Mike] Fahn's trombone work...is so good it deserves mention
in the same breath as [Bob] Brookmeyer or [Bob] Enevoldsen."
David Badham, JAZZ JOURNAL
"[Mike] Fahn is the vanguard of a select group of young players
who promise to expand the role of the trombone in contemporary
jazz."
Chuck Berg, LAWRENCE JOURNAL-WORLD "
...[Mike]
Fahn's warm, wonderful virtuosity..."
Bob Brown, L.A. JAZZ SCENE
"I
think he is one of the great new jazz trombone players."
Maynard Ferguson, DOWNBEAT
